چکیده

Several real-world problems, including distributed system design and product design among others, are characterized by combinatorially explosive solution spaces as well as multiple, conflicting criteria. Strategies for finding near-optimal solutions, developed for combinatorial problems, are not applicable in such situations, which require a balance between extensive computation and continual interaction. This makes support or automation of these decisions a difficult task. Current approaches to solve these problems fall in three categories: analytical, genetic algorithm-based approaches and local generators. They frequently assume well-behaved functions and clear understanding of interdependencies among criteria. Many such problems, however, present noisy and discontinuous evaluation functions and contain holistic interdependencies among these functions, rendering these solution approaches inadequate for these problems. We propose a theoretically grounded approach for decision support for this class of problems. The approach combines broad and deep searches with decision-maker feedback that allows the decision-maker to guide andror stop the search. Specifically, it provides the Ž . Ž . Ž decision-maker information about a the search spaces exploredrprobed so far, and b the search space not yet explored or . may never be explored . We operationalize the approach in a two-phase solution procedure. The first phase — broad characterization of search spaces — requires choices about randomization, sampling and decision space estimation techniques. The second phase — iterative local probes — requires choices about local search heuristics, and fuzzy interpretations based on which the decision-maker can evaluate alternatives andror stop the search. We demonstrate a specific instantiation of the approach for a multicriteria object assignment problem to verify the feasibility of our approach. q 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Generalized interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy Hamacher generalized Shapley Choquet integral operators for multicriteria decision making

The interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy set (IVIFS) which is an extension of the Atanassov’s intuitionistic fuzzy set is a powerful tool for modeling real life decision making problems. In this paper, we propose the emph{generalized interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy Hamacher generalized Shapley Choquet integral} (GIVIFHGSCI) and the emph{interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy Hamacher general...

Site selection for wastewater treatment plant using integrated fuzzy logic and multicriteria decision model: A case study in Kahak, Iran

One of the environmental issues in urban planning is finding a suitable site for constructing infrastructures such as water and wastewater treatment plants. There are numerous factors to be considered for this purpose, which make decision-making a complex task. We used an integrated fuzzy logic and multicriteria decision model to select a suitable site for establishing wastewater treatment plan...

Evaluation of Cloud Services: A Fuzzy Multi-Criteria Group Decision Making Method

This paper formulates the performance evaluation of cloud services as a multicriteria group decision making problem, and presents a fuzzy multicriteria group decision making method for evaluating the performance of cloud services. Interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy numbers are used to model the inherent subjectiveness and imprecision of the performance evaluation process. An effective algorit...

An Asynchronous Group Decision Support System Study for Intelligent Multicriteria Decision Making

In modern business world group decision-making is becoming an extremely important activity. Recent research on computerized group decision support has focused extensively on supporting people co-located in place and time. There is a need, however, for more research focused on asynchronous group decision support systems (GDSS). Multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) theory has produced a wide rang...

Power allocation rules under fuzzy behavior and multicriteria situations

In this paper, we adopt supreme-utilities among fuzzy level (decision) vectors to propose a power allocation rule, its efficient extension and normalization in the framework of multicriteria fuzzy transferable-utility (TU) games. We also provide several axiomatic results to present the rationality for these rules. Based on different viewpoints, we introduce different formulations and dynamic re...
